“And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.” (Luke 8: 24)

While the wind and storm tossed the ship around, Jesus was still in the ship. He was sleeping, but He was still there; He may not have spoken a word, but He was still there; the storm may have been dancing around like it had the upper hand, but Jesus was still there; the storm may have been threatening to sink them, but Jesus was still there. Jesus wasn’t absent because a storm arose.

Friend, no matter how fierce your storm is, Jesus is there with you. No matter how things have gone awry, Jesus is with you; no matter how circumstances have turned against you, Jesus is still there; no matter how your life has given rise to mockery among those around you, Jesus is still there; no matter how defiant the enemy is against you, Jesus is still there.

Jesus was silent, but He was still with His disciples; the fact that He was yet to calm the storm did not mean that He would not eventually calm it. The silence of Jesus does not translate to His absence; that He has not changed the situation does not mean that He would not eventually change it. That your mockers seem to be having a field day does not mean that Jesus has abandoned you in your situation.

Jesus later asked the disciples where their faith was; He expected them to act in faith at the time of His silence. When God is ‘silent’ towards you, He is simply calling you to the place of growth; when Jesus seems silent, He is asking you to be more and do more; if Jesus is yet to respond, there is some growth He expects from you; His ‘delay’ is your chance to grow.

Don’t allow the ‘silence’ of Jesus make you feel that He is no longer with you. He is with you, and because He is in your ship, your ship will not sink.

Matthew 28: 20 says: “… lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28: 20)

*Declare With Me: No matter the storms I face, Jesus is still in my ship, in Jesus’ name! Amen.
