▪️ I see you looking at your children,
Wondering what their lives will be.
If you verify some answers
Then their future you might see.
▪️Have you taught them to be truthful?
Have you taught them to be kind?
Have you given them the wisdom
Needed to be colour blind?
▪️Have you taught them to be caring
For those handicapped some way?
Do you read to them at bedtime?
Have you taught them how to pray?
▪️Have you taken time to tell them
What a miracle life is?
How to be aware of nature,
Share the beauty that it gives?
▪️Have you taught them how important
It is to have respect for one another?
To be grateful, not to be prideful
When good fortune you discover?
Do you let them know you love them
In a way that leaves no doubt,
So they know that is one thing
That they will never be without?
▪️We like to think that we’ve done our best.
Sometimes, that’s very true.
Can you say ‘YES’ to all my questions?
I will leave that up to you…
– ( ALORA M. KNIGHT)
This poem by ALORA poses some heart-searching questions to you as a parent to spur you into evaluating how successful you have been in your parenting responsibilities.
How have you positively influenced your children?
How many virtues have you inculcated into them to prepare them for a balanced and productive adult life?
Parenting is more than just giving birth to a child; it is the process of promoting and supporting the child’s well-being from infancy to adulthood.
And it is a common knowledge that parents are primary caregivers to their children.
In other words, you are considered a parent even if the children under your care are not biologically yours.
👉Parenting is one task every parent must take seriously.
It is unfortunate that many children become wayward because their parents fail to impact them in a godly way.
They are busy running the rat race that they abdicate their parental responsibilities to their children, leaving them at the mercy of the church, school and the society.
God frowns at this. He demands that every parent personally, brings up their children in the way of Lord. (Ephesians 6:4).
If all parents today decide to bring up their children in the fear of the Lord and groom them in every facet of life, imagine the kind of society we will have in the nearest future🤷
May the Lord help all parents to play their own part by teaching their children, showing good examples, loving them and interceding for them … Amen 🙏.
