STOP DECEIVING YOURSELF

 STOP DECEIVING YOURSELF

Stop deceiving yourself !

A Nigerian man called Shola went to London to study Law. After his studies, he decided to come back to Nigeria, because he could be a big man in his country.

He opened his new law office. The first day, he saw a man coming up to his office. He decided to make a big impression. So, he started acting big.

As the man came to the door, he pretended to be on a call with his landline Telephone. He asked the man to take a seat pointing to the seat with his hand while still making the call.

Shola said while on the phone: “No, Absolutely not! You tell those clowns in New York that I am not travelling all the way to that side to settle the case for less than a million bucks”.

“Yes! The Appeal Court has agreed to hear the case next week. l will be handling the primary argument and the other members of my team will provide support.”

“Okay. Alright… Give the State Prosecutor my regards. Take care. Bye”.

The visitor sat patiently as Shola gave out instructions on phone.

Finally

Shola dropped the landline, turned to the visitor, smiled and said, “I’m sorry for the delay, but as you can see, I’m very busy. What can I do for you?”

The man said, “I am from NITEL and I’ve come to connect your land phone because it is not working, Sir.”

Shola rolled his eyes in 360°, clockwise and anticlockwise; left and right; up and down. Goose pimples all over his body as he adjusted his tie, then, gently he closed his mouth as it has been opened for a while now.

There are many Shola’s in our society today. People that want to showcase what they have. People that want recognition by force. You will see a man who travelled to America for just a week, comes back and start forming abroad and speaking phonetics. Let’s stop deceiving ourselves and the people around us. What is the show for? Say No to boasting. Be humble, contented, and wise.
